Hello everyone!
So last night as we were adding up our weekly totals, we had
discovered that we had taught 20 lessons without even thinking about it
or specifically planning to. It was a pleasant surprise and it was a
good mix, not completely or nearly completely seeing only less actives
which made it even better. Sister Ho. and I should be setting another
baptism date this week hopefully. We could potentially have two
baptisms coming up pretty soon. That would be a miracle and a half!! One
of the people we are teaching, B., has been doing really well so
far. We have just a couple lessons left to teach him before he is
completely ready to be baptized and most of those will be taught this
week. We have been trying to meet with him at least 2-3 times a week. It
seems the more often you see people during the week the better they
progress towards baptism so we see him as often as we can. The other
person we are teaching that will have a baptism date is the daughter of a
member in the branch, her mom finally gave the okay for her to be
baptized!! Her mom is Catholic and wanted her to be confirmed Catholic
first before she could get baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints. D. can get baptized basically anytime as soon
as we get her interviewed, she has had all the lessons a ton of times
over the years and we've even had her teach us the lessons. She's come
to church for a long time now. She is ready any time after she gets a
baptism interview. She has a super strong testimony! We are so excited,
we love her so much.
On Friday, we saw S. who is a less active. Good
news, the flowers that we gave her on Mother's Day really pushed her to
quite smoking. She said that no one has ever given her flowers before
and it showed her that we really do care about her and it had given her
the initiative she needs to push forward in quitting smoking! She is
doing well, and hopefully she will be at church next Sunday, if all
continues to go well. Also on Friday while we were at a dinner
appointment at a members home, we were out on the porch with the mom,
eating homemade cheesecake she had made when a mouse fell from the
ceiling of the house onto the porch. Mind you, the houses here are
hundreds of years old... but still it was gross just the same. Haha! Our
faces just dropped and eyes went wide as we watched it fall from the
ceiling of the house over the porch. Her kids were playing with it and
got it off the porch, and it was like 4 minutes later the cat finally
shows up to get it and it's already gone, haha.
Saturday we tried to go
tracting a bit, one of the streets we had decided to tract was a dead
end.. it wasn't really a street, weird. The other street we tracted
either they weren't available or turned us away. It was a small street
so at least it wasn't too many rejections, ha.
Oh and yesterday, on
Sunday, we stopped by the B. Family. I guess it was only the husband
that was a member but he wasn't even home but the wife was. She was
really nice, and we might/hopefully will get a chance to teach her and
her husband. They also have a set of twin daughters our age, 22, who are
not members either. So maybe, just maybe we will get to teach a family after all. I've never taught a family on my mission yet and it would be
so cool to do that. We'll see. That's about it for this week. Miracles
are happening as we continue to work hard, hopefully they will be
consistent.
