Transfer 11 Week 1 9-10-12

Hello everyone,

This week was pretty good, much improvement from last week. Most of the best parts of this week happened between Friday to Sunday.

Friday, we were able to have one of the members come with us to a lesson with J. I love it when members who come to lessons end up being the perfect match friendship wise with the person being taught by the missionaries. Such was the case with P. and J. Both of them are in their 70's with Catholic backgrounds and both are some of the sweetest ladies I know. The lesson went really well, the spirit was there testifying. P. gave her conversion story of how she came to know the truth of the Book of Mormon and how this church is true, so powerful. After our lesson on the Restoration with J, were headed to another appointment with a lady named L who used to be taught by the missionaries. L wants to start having the missionary discussions again. L is a wonderful lady with a whole lot of potential.

Saturday, we contacted a couple who were previously taught by the missionaries, M. and E., we had made a return appointment with them for Saturday so this time it went through. They let us in and they had a lot of questions and we discussed principles which answered their questions. It went pretty well and they invited us back for another time this week. They also have a lot of potential to progress in the gospel. Within two days we had picked up 3 new people teach between L. and M. and E. It is amazing to be able to pick up new people to teach but the trick is to get them to church and progressing. That has been our biggest struggle in this area is actually getting investigators to church. It is so crucial for people to come to church but they don't totally realize that themselves which is what we are trying very hard to work on.

Sunday was branch conference and some numbers of the branch you would find interesting, I only wrote down a couple. We have 114 members in the branch, 32 endowed, 3 baptisms and about 20 active, to give you an idea of the membership in this area.  The talks were wonderful, many focused on the impact of the relief society in the church and also priesthood keys. Good things are happening in this area, Heavenly Father is truly blessing the work here in the Lake Placid area. I hope everyone has had a blessed week.
