Transfer 11 Week 4 Update 10-1-12

Hey everyone,

Well, the colors of the tree's are getting more brilliant every day. It has been raining a ton this week which makes for some fun finding activities, haha. I'm just glad it hasn't started to snow yet, I have a feeling it will be a rough winter but we'll see. This coming week we will be getting a new senior couple in Lake Placid. They should arrive before General Conference. Soo exciting that it is Conference time again, wow I feel like it wasn't that long ago that we had the last one in April. Watching General Conference as a missionary is amazing, I love it.

This last week wasn't all that exciting but there were a couple things that are worth mentioning. Friday, we were going to drop by a couple that we teach when we met the woman walking down the street we were crossing to. She mentioned that her fiancee wasn't that into it but was being polite by having that appointment with us a few weeks ago (that would explain all the "it's not a good time", or "can we reschedule?" cancellations). E. however, invited us into her apartment and we talked about principles of the Restoration. We invited her to read and study the Book of Mormon and invited her to General Conference, she said she would so we shall see what happens this coming weekend. Sister La and I both feel that she is prepared, and have been fasting and praying that she will be able to know the Book of Mormon is true and that there is one authorized prophet on the earth today. The next day, we dropped by another lady we were teaching who we hadn't been able to get a hold of the week before, K. She is an older woman- 60's-ish. She was the one who we talked to on her porch a few weeks ago and at first wasn't interested but then invited us back by the end of the conversation we had. We stopped by and as we were talking to her we told her about the broadcast that night that was just for women and told her we didn't have any place to watch it and she said she had direct tv and looked up to see if she had the BYUTV channel and she totally did! So we watched the RS Broadcast with her and she was pretty into it. Right before we explained the restoration and during the broadcast told her what a covenant was during the first speaker (good thing because they couldn't have used that word much more than they did, they kept on talking about covenants in the entire broadcast, yeesh). Overall though I think she enjoyed it and we are working on having her watch General Conference this coming weekend. We are working on trying to get the people we are teaching to progress and finding more who are willing to commit and change their lives. It is quite a feat trying to find people who are willing to experiment on the word and inviting them to make changes when everyone here is already happy with their life. Lake Placid is a happy, content little place which makes sharing the gospel a little more challenging because they are already happy and they actually live their religions here (well, most of them). However, no unhallowed hand will stop the work from progressing and Heavenly Father is on our side helping us push through the comfort zones of the locals. I hope everyone has a great week and an even better weekend listening to Heavenly Father's ordained and authorized servants to lead and guide this restored church. "Whether it be by mine own voice or the voice of my servants, it is the same."
