Transfer 9 Week 3 Update 7-2-12

Hello everyone,

President Bulloch officially handed over the keys of the mission this weekend and we have a new mission president, President Joseph B. Wirthlin Jr. We will get to meet him tomorrow at district meeting. So this week was a lot of either seeing less active members or finding. We actually picked up a new investigator this week named R. The week before we had been trying some former investigators and while trying one of them, they didn't live there anymore. So we talked to the person that lived there and he was interested in hearing our message and set up a return appointment which we had this last Thursday. It went pretty well, it seemed like a lot for him but we taught him how to pray and challenged him to pray to know if what we taught is true. Saturday, we taught J's kids. J. is one of the people that just got baptized recently. We taught his kids and their cousins about reverence. Most of them are between the ages of 4-7. What is sad is that most of them had no clue who Jesus is. So next time, that is what we will go over with them. His kids were pretty good during sacrament meeting yesterday which is awesome. Maybe some of the things we taught got through a little bit. J. is doing awesome, he is sharing his testimony with his family and friends. He is quite the missionary already. He helped us teach the kids on Saturday, which was fun. Sunday, we had a dinner appointment with some members but they invited a friend who is Jewish to dinner. She was really nice and we had some great religious discussions with her. Didn't specifically teach her a lesson but it was a discussion between the members, H., and us. We invited her to the 4th of July pancake breakfast and hopefully she will come. That is about it for the excitement of this week. I hope all of you have a wonderful 4th of July, and I will talk to you all next week.
-Sister Gifford
